IP68 LINEAR ENCODERS
This robust incremental linear encoder, perfectly compliments the DigiBall DRO system, and is ideal for fitting to all types of conventional machine tools including mills, lathes, and grinders – and particularly in installations where a high degree of accuracy and reliability is required over many years say, for instance, in a maintenance department or R&D facility.
Careful attention to design detail ensures this rugged linear encoder works accurately, reliably and consistently in the harshest of workshop conditions - even when totally submerged in contaminated oil, dirty coolant, hot swarf, sticky sawdust or grinding dust.
The DigiBall linear encoder is a truly "fit and forget" product that is highly tolerant to shock and vibration, with a workshop usable accuracy of +/- 0.01mm per metre; resolutions as small as 0.005mm; a repeatability of 0.005mm; a maximum operating speed of 2 m/s; and with the really big benefit of the encoder never needing any regular cleaning.
The fitting of DigiBall linear encoders to any machine is extremely simple and requires the making of only four tapped holes. Two M5 cap head socket screws fasten the reader head to the axis slide.
Very effective, universal brackets easily self-align the BallScale to the reader head – thereby dispensing with the usual need for machined surfaces and/or backing bars of other typical systems. These brackets are held in place by the use of a further two holes tapped M8.
